House plants can freshen the inside of your home, remove toxins from the air, add humidity to dry environments, and complement all types of décor. Here are some of the best house plants to consider.
- Chinese evergreens are one of the most popular houseplants. They’re easy to care for and come in many varieties.
- Spider plants are also popular because they seem to thrive even when neglected. The spider plant prefers moist soil but will forgive you if you forget to water.
- One of the sturdiest varieties of house plants is the snake plant. It can survive in almost any environment, even without water.
- Holly ferns have glossy, leathery leaves that won’t shatter in dry conditions. The holly fern also tolerates low light.
- If someone in your home suffers from asthma, consider an Areca palm. The Areca palm keeps the air fresh and moist – and makes the air in your home easier to breathe.
- Lastly, aloe vera. This plant prefers bright, indirect light and moist soil, but does fine even if you forget to water.
These are just a few of the many plants that can enhance your home. Since care instructions vary for each species if you have questions consult your local garden center or a plant care book for more information.
