Having your own pool to use on beautiful summer days… sounds great, right? Well, a lot goes into owning a pool, so be sure you know the pros and cons before you make a decision. Pools offer great entertainment value. You’ll have a home people want to come to, and your family can swim whenever they’d like.
A pool increases the aesthetic appeal of your yard and can increase your home’s resale value, especially if you live in a warm-weather climate where it can be used year-round. Swimming is also an excellent form of exercise for all ages, so a pool can be good for your physical health. On the downside, pools require regular maintenance and cleaning, and your utility bills will increase.
Also, be prepared to take additional safety precautions, especially for small children. Pools often cause insurance premiums to increase due to the increased liability.
When deciding whether or not to add a pool to your home or whether to purchase a home with a pool, consider all of these factors to help you decide if having a pool is right for you.
